How to Choose the Best Bike Rack for Your Garage

If you’re a cyclist, chances are you have more than one bike in your household, and you probably need a place to store them safely when they’re not being used. Bike racks can be a good option, but with so many models on the market it can be hard to know which type will work best in your garage or outdoor storage space. Here are some tips to consider when choosing the right bike rack for garage to fit your home and your needs as a cyclist.

Consider the Type of Bike Rack

There are three main types of bike racks available: Wall-mounted, Floor-mounted and Slatwall-mounted. Wall mounted bike racks offer a lower cost, but they can be more difficult to install. Floor mounted bike racks are durable and provide plenty of storage, but they take up valuable floor space. Slat wall mounted bike racks allow you to store your bike in an out of the way location with less worry about wear and tear on your walls or floors.

1) Wall Mounted Bike Racks

Wall mounted bike racks offer a lower cost, but they can be more difficult to install. There are many options when it comes to bike rack material. It’s important that you choose one that will work with your garage design and also be long-lasting. There are a variety of materials available on the market, including steel, aluminum, and heavy duty plastic. Steel is durable, but expensive. Aluminum is lightweight and can be painted in any color. Heavy duty plastic is affordable and easy to assemble. Slat wall makes an excellent rack because it’s sturdy enough to hold a lot of weight, yet inexpensive and easy to install.

Determine the Budget

Regardless of the type of bike rack you choose, it should be easy and quick to install. There are two types of racks: hanging racks that hang from your ceiling and walls and floor-mounted racks. The hanging racks generally cost less than floor-mounted models, but they may not be as strong or secure. Floor-mounted models usually take up more room in your garage, but they’re easier to get bikes in and out of. If you have a small garage, you may want to consider an arm that extends from one side of your garage door opening so that you can park your car on the other side.

Compare the Brands

There are a variety of bike racks on the market, so it’s important that you take your time and do some research to find one that will best suit your needs. Some considerations include:  The number of bikes you need it for. The space in your garage.  The height of your ceiling you might want to avoid low-hanging racks). Once you’ve chosen which rack is right for you, there are four simple steps to follow when installing it:  Select a spot in your garage where the rack will go  Place the rack where you’d like it  Attach the hooks or arms onto your bike 4) Stand back and admire!

The right bike rack can help save precious floor space in your garage as well as keep bikes off the ground and out of harm’s way!

Select the Right Size

No matter how many bikes you want to store, there is a bike rack that will fit your needs. A bike rack with hooks can be used if you have enough room in your garage. The biggest consideration when choosing this type of bike rack is determining how much room you have and where you want it placed. Do you want it mounted on a wall or do you have space above your slatwall door? If space is limited or if you are worried about someone being able to see your bikes from outside, then a hanging bike rack might be best. These are also good options if you don’t like the idea of leaving all of your bikes out in the open or having them clutter up your garage floor.
