Favorite quote

Sjofn’s favourite quote:

“The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant”
-The Doctor

Sjofn’s Passion

I’m very passionate about mental health. I have had a history of struggling with anxiety and depression for as long as I can remember. While I have been fortunate enough in my adult life to have amazing supportive people. It has helped me to realize how important that support is.
Within the last few years I have become very open about my struggles with mental health. I have encouraged others to talk about their struggle; whether they talk to me or a professional. Feeling alone in those solitary struggles with your worst enemy being yourself is the worst. There’s always someone. There’s help phone lines. Chat sites where they offer the ability to email back and forth with professional therapists. There is always help.
I feel that it is very important to voice that so that people feel that suicide is no longer the only “way out.” I encourage my followers to contact me via my social media platforms where I can try and give them an ear or at the very least try to  direct them to where they are able to get the help that they need.

I was a welder in the oil industry for about 8 years and recently I switched over to the mining industry in hopes of starting an apprenticeship in a second trade.

In the summer I love camping and hiking when I have the time. As well as spending time outside with friends and my dog.
I am also a comic book enthusiast, mostly Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles. I gravitate more towards DC Comics than Marvel but do enjoy both. Also have a slight (HUGE) obsession with Doctor Who and Harry Potter.
When time allows I try to attend minimum 1 or 2 Comic Expo’s per year. I attend the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo every year as a vacation where I take joy in cosplaying.
And I volunteer at the Edmonton Comic Expo to help run it! I look forward to going back every year and spending time with my “Expo Family.”
